I for one absolutely love the ribbons. Theyre visually quite appealing on screen and seeing them stack up on the top of your screen like the ribbons soldiers get for missions is great,  The sound they make is also very satisfying. They remind me of the little medals that popped up for numerous different actions in Halo:Reach.  Im sure people will be looking into this thread and I would like to take the time to remind everyone who doesnt like them they can be turned off by going to the options menu where you adjust controls and screen brightness and all.  The option to turn them, and post death tips, off is under Game.

Great idea guys!!!

You shouldn't get the Damaged ribbon when you hit an enemy that isn't spotted. It takes the challenge out of blind shots, and in low tier matches with auto-guns you can just spray shots at random bushes to find where people are...

The flesh surrenders itself. Eternity takes back its own. Our bodies stirred these waters briefly, danced with a certain intoxication before the love of life and self, dealt with a few strage ideas, then submitted to the instruments of Time. What can we say of this? I occurred. I am not... yet, I occurred.

I'm wondering, will we be able to see other people's ribbons in the post mortem view? I never thought to check last night.

I for one am loving the fact that I get some indicator of a hit on a tank which has backed out of my view range.  I have noticed a lot more concentrated fire at seemingly random spots now, so I understand your point.

And if you don't like the ribbons, you can turn them off in the options. Same for postmortem tips.

Although I have turned off the post-mortem tips, I have left the ribbons on.  At first I thought it would be distracting, but now it seems more like positive reinforcement, letting me know that I successfully hit something.

I still haven't warmed up to the new post battle screen, especially since it is now unsorted, but that is a different thread.

Actually, the ribbons have gotten me a few extra kills.  I had been blindly shooting a spot beyond where a tanker had backed out of my visual range and kept seeing the ribbons pop up until the destroyed tank ribbon popped.  I agree, it does take a little bit out of the game.  I may not have fired those last few shots and saved the rounds had I not known I was hitting the target.
Also, I'm not completely liking the after action stats.  I don't think they are as user friendly as the previous version.

Biped Fungus because I'm a walking fungi.... (Fun guy. Get it?  Oh never mind!)

Love the ribbons.  The SFX are a little loud that accompany them, though, as has been stated elsewhere on the forum.  I'm pretty sure they are working on that, though.

Lol it cuts down camping, I thought thats what everyone wanted, thats what I read on almost every thread mmmmmm guess they were wrong. But it does kinda suck I do agree on that, but it is what it is. People wanted the camping to stop boom they give you a way to do it.

I also like that they added ribbons for tracking an OPFOR tank as well as when you spot tanks and those tanks get damaged.  It makes being low tier in a game more fun - "I can't pen him, but I can sure rack up these 'tracked' ribbons" and being a scout as well - immediate feedback that you're doing your job.

Well played, WOT.

I didn't know the ribbons could be turned off, so I wil do that.

PLEASE get rid of the ribbon for hidden tanks. Spotting as a camoed light tank is hard enough, and random fire/etc has ruined that, now that folks know when they hit something.

As for TDs and other glass canon/sniper tanks, you have juist destroyed a big part of how they work. Blind shots/counter battery is SUPPOSED to be blind.

Think about it: do you REALLY want arty (or anyone else) to know when they hit/splash damaged your hidden tank, when you're waiting in ambush for the approaching enemy push? Being hidden isn't just about camping. After all, even the hint/loading screens tank about using this exact mechanic.

I play this game because it is NOT CoD or HALO or any of the other FPS type games. I'm kind of sad to see it move in that direction.

Oh, and on that note: WoT is designed to be a team game. Not just about individual performance. I think the ribbons will positively reinforce players ignoring the team for their own benefit.

Way to go.
